Fed on 1/9, Monday.
Breakfast hurries Last day!! It looks like MP got a very nice breakfast again. There’s sprouts and thinly sliced apples and I think I see a whole mushroom hiding under the veggie mix. Lucky girl! Sprouts-left Piz sent this one in the afternoon and told me that she left the breakfast sprouts at first, but later went back and finished them. AWESOME. Pretty Colleen After picking up my Japanese passport at the Consulate, Colleen and I got to have . . .

beef mushies Fed on 10/01. I keep my word! I did go to the co-op shortly after her breakfast and scored some nice just-ground meat. I like the meat men there. Actually, meat guys are really nice everywhere I go. sale meat Not only did I really go shopping like I said, but I scored $1 off a pound! This brought down the price to $2.99/lb for grassfed meat. Pretty good! I usually only see the 50¢ off—which is not nearly as . . .

soup breakfast Fed on 09/28. Nice, light chicken soup for breakfast. Veggie mix, too. So very fresh! This is like a chilled soup type thing because it’s somehow unseasonably warm at the moment. Any extra warm days are like gold around here. Since this week is shockingly warm—after a few days of “Eff those green tomatoes” type chilly days when wool seemed inevitable—I’m taking some apple cider vinegar (ACV because I’m lazy). I don’t know what it is but it really makes me feel good so . . .

swat Fed on 09/25. I had to post this unrelated but seriously awesome picture instead of one of the meal ones because the soup picture is so unappetizing and not even funny. Isn’t this the best? MP is an ambidextrous swatter and Piz got whacked in the face. She likes to give you her hand (it’s totally her thing), but if you don’t have your hand or lap out, she’ll sometimes go for the face. Hey, remember I said that I’m making broth or . . .

chicken breakfast Fed on 09/18. So, we’re up in northern MN visiting Piz’s parents for three nights. This trip is half work and half play. We’re supposed to help them prepare for a big group of mostly foreign guests for two whole weeks. Piz comes up often but I only make it up here about once or twice a year. Their house is in middle of forever and ever and ever of forests. It is magical. I brought the following meals on this trip: 7 chicken . . .

chicken soup and egg Fed on 9/3/10: Big breakfast soup with egg! No blueberries to screw it up today, although it would’ve been good for all the “b” alliterating. More exciting is the bigger bowl of banana bread gold (sort of—it had a bunch of other stuff in it). I made this while her soup was cooking and as she ate. She scarfed down the soup superfast so that she can ask for the gold bowl. banana bread bowl I even got a Bowl . . .

my last peach on sale Since I grew up on those ridiculous Japanese peaches that wear cashmere socks and come packed in gold down pillows, (I’m sure you’ve heard of the square watermelons of the ’80s) I’d been disappointed by peaches around here. At something like $4/lb, I hold multi-year grudges if I ever bought one that sucked. (It did.) So, when I saw gorgeous, sweet smelling organic ones on sale or $1.99/lb at Whole Foods (I know), the hoarding lamp went on and I . . .

kong packing I got a bunch of bossa nova bassist bananas for a pretty good price (59 cents/lb!). This new co-op out in the ‘burbs is pretty awesome! (As an ID designer, the logo and the website gives my eyes a small case of the sads, but at least they have something.) Anyway. I’m going to make a pretty standard banana Kong today. I basically stuff it down with banana until it’s about 2/3 full. I split them open and slide in the pieces . . .

bananaaaaaa Every morning, MP goes out for potty and gets a little morsel of a treat. Sometimes it’s a bite of leftovers from the night before, sometimes it’s an almond. Dollops of yogurt work, too. Most of the time, though, it’s a piece of banana. She looooooves bananas. a little piece about this size Bananas appear all over the place on the MP food pyramid. All the frozen Kongs pretty much have banana as the base, and she gets one of those almost everyday. . . .
